We've added a New Venue for some of our classes.
Our new venue is in St Catherine's Church Hall. Originally used as a school, we shall be returning the church hall to its original purpose - as a place of learning - by holding some of our lessons there. With local amenities close by and easy access for students travelling from afar, this location provides a great place for our jewellery workshops.

Metal Clay Academy Survey - The survey is now closed, we would like to thank all who took part in the valuable resource.
The Metal Clay Academy is an independant online resource for metal clay. It has a wealth of information for the metal clay artisan whatever their level of skill and is a must for anone with an interest in metal clay be it silver, gold, copper or bronze. I personally urge you to complete this survey, it only takes a couple of minutes and the benefits promise to be long lasting withing the metal clay community
The Metal Clay Academy, now in its second year, has been commissioned to conduct a survey of the metal clay community in the UK. The academy is uniquely qualified to conduct this research because it is a private independent organization with no ties to manufacturers, distributors, or schools.
The goal of this market survey is to create an accurate picture of the UK metal clay community, a goal that will benefit us all because this information will generate interest from a wide variety of companies. In addition, a professionally conducted survey like this will help the metal clay community gain credibility within the fields of education, professional services, and government.
Information will be gathered through an online survey to be completed by UK based metal clay suppliers, teachers, and artists. The survey asks a number of questions including:
- What influences purchasing decisions (both clay and classes)?
- How have changes in the current economic climate affected buying training, materials, and tools?
- What sort of discounts are suppliers offering?
- How do trainers and suppliers advertise?
- What is the condition of metal clay education in the UK?
This survey is completely anonymous. The survey system is filtered to delete any reference to participants, a feature that underscores the importance of being honest in your answers. We are looking for patterns here without reference to specific brands, companies, or individuals.
The more people who complete the survey, the more accurately the results will reflect the state of the metal clay market in the UK. Please click the Metal Clay Academy to be directed to the survey.

New Kiln Firing Service
Following several requests from our students we are pleased to be able to offer a kiln firing service. This is an open service designed to allow artists that have no kiln access to fire their delicate, hollow form and intricate pieces in a kiln.
The kiln firing service has been set up to meet the growing number of artists producing outstanding work but have not made the huge financial commitment of purchasing their own kiln. Now artists are able to continue creating their unique pieces and have access to firing facilities on a one off payment basis. more..

Introduction Workshop being held in September and October
Following the success of our August Introduction Workshop we are running further Introduction workshops in September and October. The August workshop was full and all students remarked on the quality of the training and the personal results they achieved. The August workshop saw students making a simple silver charm, a textured pendant and a silver ring in the size of their choice. The students who had no previous experience in precious metal clay were very impressed at how easy it was to create their own silver jewellery using a small amount of PMC and tools that were commonly found in the home. Several students have booked to come back on a more advanced course to learn more advanced jewellery making techniques.
The next Introduction Workshops will be held on 19th September and 17th October in Solihull town centre. Please call or email to book your place or for further details.
