Moving on in Precious Metal Clay
This two day workshop is for the artists that have used and enjoyed creating pieces in precious metal clay and want to expand their skills further. The workshop teaches students how to add gems and stones into their work, advanced forming and shaping techniques and also brings in elements of silversmithing to help students create final dinished pieces of a very high standard. This course also explores the differences between PMC and Art Clay and which material is best suited to a type of work. We also look at areas that typically cause problems for students such as joining and repairs and how to avoid the pitfalls or what to do to remedy. During the two day workshop students will create up to six different pieces including gems and natural stones. The materials for this course include 20g Art Clay, 25g PMC, Art Clay and PMC syringe type and paste type (amounts to be confirmed), all stones and gems required and the use of all tools and firing equipment.
This is a two day workshop running from 10am - 5pm. The cost of the workshop is £250 per student payable on booking.
The workshops are to be held in Solihull Town Centre at the Oliver Bird Hall. Tea coffee and biscuits are provided throughout the course, there are a number of local pubs, cafes and other places to eat. Onsite parking is available for the duration of the course.
